Vehicle Tax Raids Along Jalan DI Panjaitan Intensified

32 joint personnel are holding a raid against motor vehicles along Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cawang, East Jakarta, Friday (11/23). The main target is luxury cars that have yet to pay the tax.

It’s more focused on luxury vehicles that are still tax arrears

"It’s more focused on luxury vehicles that are still on tax arrears. Because its tax value is higher than other types of vehicles," East Jakarta Vehicle Taxes (PKB) and Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fees (BBNKB) Technical Unit Head, Iwan Syaefudin, when he led the raid.

But it does not rule out the possibility that other vehicles suspected of not paying taxes are also targeted, either two-wheeled vehicles or four-wheeled vehicles.

He also mentions it is done to optimize the tax payment of the motor vehicles. It is because there are still 336,000 units that have not paid taxes with potential tax revenues of around Rp 400 billion.

Irfan (35), one of vehicles caught in the raid stated that the raid is actually indirectly helping people who have not had time to pay taxes due to their daily activities.

"I strongly agree with tax raids like this. This is education for vehicle owners who have not paid taxes. As we know the tax results will be use for the city development, so let's pay taxes," he stressed.

Every vehicle that passes from Tanjung Priok towards Cililitan are stopped for the inspection of the vehicle letter. Those found to have not paid taxes, were directly directed to the payment counter prepared at the location.

But if they do not pay, they have to make a statement form to pay taxes.
